Artemis II Contacted by Apolo 16 Crew Member on Their Historic Mission
View on Our YouTube Channel
Cape Kennedy, FL Apr. 06, 2026 - Dateline, Cape Kennedy, Florida, April the 5th, 2026. Apollo astronaut Charlie Duke contacts the crew of Artemis II. Reading from Florida today, Brooke Edwards writes of the contact on Easter with the Artemis II crew from former Apollo astronaut Charlie Duke. Duke said, and I quote, Hello, Reed, Victor, Christina, Jeremy. This is Apollo 16 astronaut Charlie Duke. John Young and I landed on the moon in 1972 in a lunar module we named Orion. I'm glad to see a different kind of Orion helping return humans to the moon as America charts the course to the lunar surface." Duke was an Air Force officer and test pilot who became the 10th and youngest person to walk on the moon during the Apollo 16 mission. His southern drawl was distinctive and known around the world as he was the voice for mission control during Apollo 11's problematic landing, using almost all of their descent fuel. We can imagine it once again as he hails the Artemis II crew on Easter. Duke continued, "Thanks to you and the whole team on the ground for building on our Apollo legacy with Artemis. Godspeed and safe travels home." Today, April 6, the Artemis II crew will make their closest approach to the Moon as they swing around the far side. With the current lighting conditions, they will see views that were in darkness during the Apollo missions. NASA has said photos taken from the crew's cameras and iPhones will be revealed afterward. Now for my commentary. Some conservative evangelicals consider missions to the moon overreach for mankind and spouting the Tower of Babel and condemning such missions. Those on the left would condemn the use of the money as better spent on other needs of Americans. However, the space program has had many spinoffs from their research that have benefited mankind. I believe if God wanted to stop the program, it would never continue. Unlike Babel, our motives are not to reach out or outdo God or to prevent another flood or to go. We are there to go to the next frontier. Like Duke, I say, Godspeed and safe travels home.
