| Trump Finally Taking a Hit with Evangelicals - What Took You So Long? | | View on Our YouTube Channel |  Washington, DC May. 09, 2026 - A new NPR/PBS News/Maris Poll indicates that Trump is finally taking a hit with one of his most important voting blocks - white evangelical Christians - in late April. He is down 5 points to 69 percent approval, with a 29 percent disapproval. This is a 10 point decline in three months. The economic pressure due to an unprovoked war is finally having an impact where immorality and just plain ineptitude could not sway their vote from Trump and the Republicans.
Trumps ratings have suffered as a result of his tariffs, high prices and rising gas costs to the average consumer in America. 8 in 10 Americans state that high gas prices were straining household budgets with most of these blaming Trump. Another issue that was more directly divisive amongst Evangelicals was his unwavering support of Israel, when Netanyahu is constantly committing war crimes. While most Evangelicals are supportive of Israel, there are some anti-Zionist factions that would find Israel's use power illegal and threatening peace. Israel defending itself is one thing, but Israel using that defense as an excuse to persecute others and take land is quite another thing. In fact, Trump's favorability amongst Catholics is now negative.
Now for my commentary...
I have always found it completely confusing that the religion of Jesus, who is the Prince of Peace, whose second most important commandment, to honoring God, is to love thy neighbor; who told the rich man to take his wealth and give it to the poor; who promoted the care of the widows, orphans and the needy, would support a party that supports a man who is, was and has always been one of the worse sinners to ever hold public office. But, I am going to bore you with a list and I hope you will listen to it carefully. If you are an Evangelical and you voted for this man, was it really worth it to get a few restrictions on abortion, because he did not get rid of it, and give gays a hard time?
Here is the list as I know it and no Christian should ever condone any of it, much less give such an immoral and traitorous person their vote:
Falsifying medical records to avoid the Vietnam draft obtaining 5 draft deferments;
Spitefully attacking decorated war veterans and Gold Star families;
Mocking the testimony of sex-assault survivor, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford;
Praising, siding with, and declaring his “love†for known murderers, war criminals, dictators, and enemies of the US, including those who actively imprison and murder Christians;
Actively aiding and abetting foreign enemies over our allies;
Deporting non-white service members of the US Armed Forces;
Charged in 91 criminal cases.
Pleaded the Fifth Amendment 97 times.
Has 34 felony convictions and four indictments.
Has a record two presidential impeachments.
Owned two convicted companies.
Flew 8 times on Epstein's plane, appearing 38,000+ times in the Epstein files.
Abandoning US allies in Northern Syria in preparation for a Russian invasion;
Attempting to discredit and undermine US intelligence agencies, including the FBI and CIA;
Committing serial adultery, including with porn stars and Playboy Playmates;
Paying hush money to his mistresses in order to conceal his adulterous affairs;
Settling a $25 million class action lawsuit over his fraudulent Trump University;
Dissolving the Donald J. Trump Foundation by court order for bribery, links to foreign countries, and using charitable funds for paying off personal debt and political campaigns;
Being court ordered to pay $2 million for using charitable donations for personal purposes;
Having lost 38 lawsuits regarding breaches of contract, defamation, and sexual harassment;
$400 million + in fraud judgement;
$5 million sexual abuse judgement;
Had 26 sexual assault allegations;
Having had over 36 tax liens against Trump properties for nonpayment of taxes;
Having businesses and properties linked to domestic and foreign organized crime rings;
Labelling desperate Mexican women and children as rapists and drug dealers;
Labelling desperate women and children refugees as dangerous terrorists;
Labelling Africans and Haitians as HIV-infected people from “shithole†countries;
Separating infants, toddlers, and young children from their immigrant parents;
Deliberately stoking cruel paranoia and xenophobia about blacks, immigrants, and Muslims;
Bullying and making fun of the physically handicapped;
Tactlessly provoking military and economic tension with foreign countries;
Harming farmers and the US economy with unnecessary tariffs;
Declaring any journalist, news report, or news agency that criticizes him as illegitimate;
Banning or restricting Muslim immigrants and refugees from entering the United States;
Making disparaging, misogynistic, and racist statements about women and racial minorities;
Spreading sensationalistic propaganda and false conspiracy theories about his opponents;
Publicly questioning the legitimacy of any federal prosecutor or judge who opposes him;
Routinely hinting at his desire to eliminate government checks and balances and to remain in office indefinitely;
Refusing to denounce white supremacist groups and leaders who endorse him;
Calling members of a white supremacist faction “very fine peopleâ€;
Inciting violence and hatred at his rallies;
Refusing to denounce his supporters who perpetrate horrendous crimes in his name;
Telling his supporters that he will pay for their legal expenses if they assault other Americans;
Encouraging law enforcement personnel to engage in abuses of power;
Impeding disaster relief aid to Americans living in Puerto Rico and California;
Contributing to the increase in white supremacy, anti-Semitism, and Islamophobia;
Frequently appointing white supremacists and their sympathizers to positions of power;
Frequently appointing people with gross inexperience or conflicts of interest;
Frequently appointing uncredentialed family members and close friends;
Compulsively pronouncing over 13,435 false or misleading statements in under 3 years;
Using his presidency to promote Trump brands, resorts, and Trump family merchandise;
Repeatedly violating the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution;
Repeatedly sponsoring and supporting those who violated the House Ethics Committee;
Publicly endorsing Roy Moore, an accused child molester;
Seeking foreign interference in America’s political campaigns;
Having well-documented ties to Russian officials, suggesting collusion with foreign countries;
Bribing and extorting the President of Ukraine for personal political reasons by withholding Congressionally-mandated military aid to the country;
Having officially been accused of committing a crime by the Government Accountability Office for violating the Impoundment Control Act;
Engaging in a cover up about his bribing the Ukrainian President, resulting in his impeachment;
Hiding tax returns from public and criminal inspection;
Bragging about never paying taxes like other hard-working Americans;
Taking measurable steps to oppose and suppress the rights of LGBTQ+ Americans;
Taking measurable steps to restrict the rights and protections of labor workers;
Taking measurable steps to harm the environment and endangered species, including denying the validity of climate science;
Pardoned over a thousand felons, some of whom have paid into his family's crypto scheme.
Billions paid into his family's crypto scheme by foreign entities who were then awarded favors; one gave him a multi-million dollar plane.
Slashing funding for mental health, public housing, USAID, and children’s food programs., effectively killing hundreds of thousands through starvation and disease;
Disclosing confidential information about Twitter users and whistleblowers;
Receiving several reprimands from the Office of Government Ethics;
Removing and violating White House ethics training for department members;
Being the subject of or involved in 12 congressional investigations, 10 federal criminal investigations, and 8 state and local criminal investigations;
Engaging in witness tampering, obstructionist behavior, and witness intimidation;
Being pathologically unrepentant and unremorseful about any of his sinful behavior.
When asked when he last repented by an Evangelical, he stated he has never done so because he has never committed a sin. That indicates he knows nothing of our religion, because all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Trump would never submit to Jesus Christ as his savior, because his ego puts him equal to Jesus Christ through AI social media posts and through the pronouncements of false prophets like Paula White.
I have stated this before and I say it again, the Democrats are the party whose laws and actions support the commandments of Jesus to include looking out for the welfare of the poor, the needy, the downtrodden, the hungry, the sick, and the foreigner. They believe in the give unto Caesar what is Caesar's and unto God what is God's philosophy of separation of church and state. They actually have leaders who attend church regularly and are members, not just spout religion for political purposes. Biden went to church more often while in the White House than any president since such stats were recorded for almost a century. Obama was a practicing Christian, not a Muslim. Hillary is a devout Methodist who attends church.
The Republican party is the party of the billionaires, by the billionaires and for the billionaires who have bought them and paid for them. They give tax breaks to the rich, taking benefits, food, healthcare and more from the poor to pay for it, when they are not running up record deficits. Republicans are responsible for only 4% of the job growth and 79% of the national debt over the last 35 years. 10 of the last 11 economic recessions began under Republican Presidents as well as the Great Depression. So how are they claiming to be followers of Jesus? It has always been a mystery to this Evangelical minister. Republicans make Evangelicals look like hypocrites and most of them are.
Trump is simply an unrepentant liar, adulterer, war criminal, convicted felon, misogynist, corrupt president, hater of the foreigner against Biblical law, racist, and con artist. Shame on Evangelicals for supporting him at 69 percent, and they were still at 79% three months ago? Really? If you voted for Trump and pretend to be a Christian, may God have mercy on your soul, because the Devil is quite pleased with you.
